vineyards & harvest
The fruit for the Acronym Red Blend comes from the sun-drenched vineyards of California’s Central Valley. The region boasts ideal conditions for cultivating quality grapes: fertile loamy soils, gentle winter rains, and warm days tempered by cool nights. Within the Central Valley there are many micro-climates, from the eroded lava domes of Sutter Butte to the slopes of the Tehachapi Mountains south of Bakersfield, allowing our winemaker to choose the fruit that will most offer the balance and quality vital to the crafting of Acronym.
The Acronym Red Blend begins with grapes carefully selected at their peak of flavor and crushed within hours of harvest. The stems are removed and the juice transferred to steel tanks for fermentation, which lasts seven to nine days.
The Acronym Red Blend is best enjoyed young to truly experience its lush fruitiness. At its best within one to two years of the vintage date.
Acronym is made for good food and fun friends. It is a perfect partner to sausage and cheese appetizers, and will enhance anything on the grill. Or, go more exotic and serve alongside Asian grilled meat satay with peanut sauce. The full body and rich fruitiness make it delicious on its own too.
Acronym is a dark ruby red blend of several varietals dominated by Pinot Noir and Syrah. Dense aromas of red berry fruit combine nicely with hints of roasted coffee, soft vanilla, and milk chocolate. The fruit follows through to the palate with dark berry jam flavors and a touch of cedar spice. The delightfully lush mid-palate segues beautifully into a long, lingering finish.
